Going Old Fashioned

So I've done a lot of research and have decided that not only are we going to do cloth diapers, but I've made my own baby wipes too. And when the baby arrives I will make the baby wipe solution too. It's really amazing to me how much money all of this saves. Plus it just sounds better for the baby... I figure back when I was a baby things were simpliler and more natural too. I clearly survived just fine with out having a box of plastic diapers.

It's really funny the reaction I've been getting from folks who have their opinions about "gosh you must have so much time on your hands to be able to do all that" and "cloth diapers are so inconvenient plus you have to think about how much water they use and electricity".. I generally respond with "well that's you opinion and this is mine" I chose to do it this way and that's OK if you don't think it's best!

Does all this mean that when we travel we wont buy disposiable diapers and wipes. No it doesen't I fully intend on that!!

However for the day to day operations this is the path I'm choosing to take :)

Here are my little baby wipes that I made up today.

LB's Room Renovation

Last weekend we decided to take the plunge and rip out the carpet upstairs. Well, you have to love old homes they are always full of surprises some wonderful some not so desirable.

To our surprise LB's room already has hardwood and it's beautiful. It needs to be sanded but other than that it's in good shape.

The other surprise was not so great as we worked our way to the landing the wood changed and was not in good shape at all.... and then finally our room, well it's just plywood.

So 1/2 and 1/2 isn't so bad. We ordered the rest of the wood to continue upstairs and it should be here in a couple of weeks.

The carpet was gross. Somethings are better off being gone!

The beautiful floor!

We removed all the trim too so it will be repainted and freshened up.

Here you can see the wood changes from LB's room to the landing and into our room. Soon it will all look the same.

We're not sure what happened here in the closet but that will get fixed too.

A Song to my baby

I absolutely love this song. I'm dedicating it to Baby Barber.. Starting today and never ending. I'll be there for him/her!

"Gone, Gone, Gone"

When life leaves you high and dry
I'll be at your door tonight
If you need help, if you need help
I'll shut down the city lights,
I'll lie, cheat, I'll beg and bribe
To make you well, to make you well

When enemies are at your door
I'll carry you away from war
If you need help, if you need help
Your hope dangling by a string
I'll share in your suffering
To make you well, to make you well

Give me reasons to believe
That you would do the same for me

And I would do it for you, for you
Baby, I'm not moving on
I love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you.
You would never sleep alone
I love you long after you're gone
And long after you're gone, gone, gone.

When you fall like a statue
I'm gon' be there to catch you
Put you on your feet, you on your feet
And if your well is empty
Not a thing will prevent me
Tell me what you need, what do you need

I surrender honestly
You've always done the same for me

So I would do it for you, for you.
Baby, I'm not moving on
I love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you.
You would never sleep alone.
I love you long after you're gone
And long after you're gone gone gone.

You're my back bone,
You're my cornerstone
You're my crutch when my legs stop moving
You're my head start,
You're my rugged heart
You're the pulse that I've always needed
Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating
Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating
Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating
Like a drum my heart never stops beating

For you, for you
Baby I'm not moving on
I love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you.
You would never sleep alone
I love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you.
Baby I'm not moving on,
I love you long after you're gone.
For you, for you.
You would never sleep alone.
I love you long, long after you're gone.

Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating
Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating
Like a drum, baby, don't stop beating
Like a drum my heart never stops beating for you

And long after you're gone, gone, gone.
I love you long after you're gone gone, gone.

Beach Mobile

Today I finished the beach mobile that will hang in LB's room.

I wanted something simple but unique. So I found the wood portion of the mobile at a store and used the shells from our wedding and honeymoon to decorate it. Chris helped me drill the holes in the shells and wa-la it turned out perfect!

LB's Very Speical Gift From Aunti Lin

Yesterday Chris and I received a very speical gift from Aunti Lin. How she always know "just the right gift" amazes me!!

I've always loved these Ergo carriers, maybe because in school I focused in Ergonomics I don't know. But the thought of being able to keep little LB close to me and still be able to do things melts my heart.

I've always said "I wont be one of those mothers that just sits around the house". The baby needs to go and see things, experiance the world around it and by all means learn what the kitchen is all about. (Since you all know that being in the kitchen is where I spend a good majority of my time when I'm home).

Also, just as special is the coin set from the Denver Mint. It's a little piece of home for LB to learn about when he/she get's older. I can't wait to take LB there. In addition to the Denver Zoo, Cave of the Winds, and let's not forget Casa Bonita! All favorite places of mine when I was a kid.

We all thank you Aunti Lin for knowing us so well and giving us the gift of keeping LB close to our hearts :)

Love you

LB's Update

Today we had another ultrasound and met with the Surgeon. Things are looking better for LB. The long story short is that, even though the CCAM is still there it does not appear to be growing!

Looks like as long as all progresses this way I will be able to have a "normal birth" at my hospital here in CT. Which makes me very happy!!

So fingers crossed that this good trend keeps going!!

Thank you to all that have sent us so many thoughtful letters and thoughts. Clearly all your positive thoughts have been working. Thank you!

Check out this awesome photo of little LB.
